If you were asked to predict how the world will look like 100 years from today, what would be your take? How accurate would that guess be?
It’s funny to see people’s prediction of the future because it is not only ridiculous, but today’s reality also constrains it.
If the people living in 1989 were around, they might have been disappointed to see that there aren’t any winged postmen, but they would have enjoyed using laptops and browsing through their Facebook profiles. These French postcards attempted to predict the future. Did they get it right?
“Digital” Lesson Plans
Imagine never studying, yet you pass your exams. So, it turns out that our forefathers imagined that in future teaching would be done using machines. All the students needed to do would be to sit, and information would be cranked up their brains via headphones. Funny enough, they never imagined that women could ever be scholars. Let’s say that all future learners can continue hoping for this.
Scrub the Floors
Here’s one brilliant French artist who predicted that man would develop a machine to help with housekeeping. The broom looks different from the vacuum cleaner we are all used to, but the result is the same.
Get Me Ready
Imagine a mechanical bathroom that does your makeup, hair, nails, and all other matters grooming. Have you noticed the automatic camera that takes photos and sends them to your friends? I’m seated here imagining how many happy husbands we would be having if only this machine became a reality. No waiting by the door for your woman guys!
The Flying Postman
The artists thought that there would be flying postal workers by the year 2000. The concept in the photo sure does seem ridiculous, but getting to think about it, this could have been the emails we are all fond of. Also, some companies offer drone delivery, which can pass out for the flying postman.
It’s a flying affair y’all! People living in the 1890s imagined that lawmakers wouldn’t have to deal with defaulters on the streets. All they needed was to fly high and beyond. We are yet to experience police officers pulling over an aircraft in mid-air. Probably that will happen when air is the primary means of transport. The new technology of flying police bikes has made this prediction a reality.
House on Wheels
Talk of RVs in action. Now, these 1899 guys were the real deal. Their predictions are pretty much close to what we have at the moment. Kudos!
